Journalists and non-journalists unite once again to knock the SC’s door for implementation of the Justice Majithia Wage Board Award during the Corona period

The struggle of the Journalists and non-journalists to get the benefit of Majithia Wage Board Award during the Covid-19 lockdown and subsequent unlocking process has completely slowed down.

In most of the states, the work of the courts has not started smoothly and if at all it has started in some places it is moving at a slow pace.

Even in Labour Courts and Labour Commissioner’s Offices same condition prevails. In such situation, this fight will not get the right results, so a decision has been taken to knock the door of honourable Supreme Court on this matter.

One of the SC decisions regarding Majithia Wage Board Award implementation came in June 2017 and an order was passed by the Apex Court to clear the matter going on in the labour courts and labour departments within a time bound duration of 180 days (six months). Despite the order of the honourable SC no matter has been solved in any state. A bunch of RTIs applications to different courts of the states reveal the fact that even after 6 months’ time bond decision, about 99 per cent of the employees have not received the benefit but are simply harassed by the employers.

A public interest litigation (PIL) will be filed in the honourable Supreme Court of India regarding the adamant attitude of the newspaper, magazine owners as they are not giving due importance and respect to the order of the highest court of the country.

The condition of the employees in Covid-19 period has further deteriorated and they are facing the worst time with no help from any corners.

That, I, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  S/o . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . , am covered by the recommendations of the Justice Majithia Wage Board Award and as such I am entitled for receiving the pay scale as per the #MajithiaAward2011. The honourable Supreme Court has very clearly ordered in the Contempt Petition (C) No. 411/2014 and in Writ Petition (C) No. 246/2011 that any transfer, termination and retrenchment of workers for demanding wages as per the #MajithiaAward2011 is illegal. The employer/management has grossly violated the order of the Honourable Supreme Court of India and the Competent Authority at the local level has been delaying the matter, which has already exceeded the 180-day deadline fixed by the Honourable Supreme Court of India.

Most respectfully this is to request you to kindly intervene in to the matter and allow us to join duty with all back wages and salary and interim relief as per the Justice Majithia Wage Board Award. This is also to request you to kindly issue directions to the employer/management to release all our legal dues as per the Justice Majithia Wage Board Award and to do not victimize and harass any employee for demanding #MajithiaAward2011.
