IFWJ calls upon media to desist from naming Indian mutant of Corona Virus

New Delhi, 14 May. Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) has expressed extreme shock and huge concern over the use of the term ‘Indian variants’ for the Coronavirus, which is presently sweeping like a tsunami in India and many other countries.  It has called upon all journalists and media houses of the world not to call it an Indian variant as its origin is not even remotely linked with India.

It is highly distressing that even some Indian journalists and media houses have also fallen into the trap of the forces that are inimical to India and are making all efforts to create an atmosphere of fear and panic among the people of the world about India, said the statement of the IFWJ jointly issued by President BV Mallikarjunaih, the Vice-President Hemant Tiwari, and the Secretary-General Parmanand Pandey.

It is a well-known fact that the origin of the Coronavirus can be traced only and only to China as it has been developed in the Wuhan Virological Institute as a deadly biological weapon to cause massive destruction and devastation to the lives and properties of the world and yet the media across the globe has failed to show the courage to call it a Chinese virus. Initially, some countries used to name it the Wuhan virus but due to the threat, pressure and bullying of China, even the media of the developed and democratic countries shamelessly stopped calling spade a spade.

So much so, the WHO has proved to be the servile stooge of the Chinese government and has obviously failed to show the requisite courage to ask to enquire about the genesis and the spread of the damning virus leading to the pandemic. It is a well-known fact that China even did not allow entering the WHO’s team of doctors for good 15 days in the virological institute of Wuhan but there was hardly any outrage in the media.

IFWJ has further said that it is highly disturbing that instead of 'naming and shaming China', the original culprit, the media is calling it the Indian mutant, which is a victim country. The media will do a great service to humanity by emphasising upon the WHO and other countries of the world to thoroughly enquire into the role of the Wuhan Virological Institute for leaking the virus, which has actually proved to be the enemy of humanity.

The IFWJ has also asked the Government of India and other regulatory bodies like the Press Council of India to ensure that Indian media is not carried away by the nasty and sinister campaign of the foreign media, which has been perpetually hostile to India.

Office Secretary: IFWJ
