Home Minister Assured IFWJ Delegation of Journalists Security Bill


New Delhi, 28 October; The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today assured to a delegation of the Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) that his government would soon introduce such laws as will adequately protect and guard the safety and security of journalists, so that they can pursue their profession without any without any fear or obstacle from anybody. The delegation of the ‘Indian Federation of Working Journalists’ (IFWJ), met him at his residence and submitted a memorandum demanding among other things, the comprehensive change in the Working Journalists Act and constitution of new Wage Board. Shri Singh congratulated the IFWJ on its 68th foundation day and wished it to continuously work for the cause of journalists and journalism.

The delegation was led by the IFWJ Vice-President Shri Hemant Tiwari, which consisted of the Secretary General Parmanand Pandey, Secretary Siddharth Kalhans, Treasurer Rinku Yadav and the legal advisor Mohan Babu Agrawal.

The Home Minister Shri Singh gave a very patient hearing to the delegation for more than one hour. During the meeting IFWJ Vice-President Shri Tiwari pointed out that some of the important office bearers of the IFWJ have been harassed in some states for exposing the misdeeds of the some of the politicians. Shri Singh assured to look into all such complaints and would ask the state government to take action against those responsible for such acts.
